Amendment Regulation on the Regulation on Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law (“Regulation”) was published in the Official Gazette dated 13.05.2022 and numbered 31834 and entered into force.
Scope of Changes
With the that amendment made in subparagraph (b) of the second paragraph of Article 20 of the Regulation, the minimum amount required for the application through the purchase of real estate has been increased from 250 thousand US dollars to 400 thousand US dollars, effective as of 13/06/2022.
With the subparagraph (f) added to the second paragraph of Article 20 of the Regulation, it became possible to apply for citizenship by depositing a contribution amount of at least 500,000 USD or equivalent in foreign currency to the private pension system.
Conclusion
The minimum amount required for real estate acquisition, which is the most common method of applying for Turkish citizenship by investment, has been updated as 400 thousand US dollars, as being effective one month later.
